Mike and Julie Marsh show off their new Pita PIt franchise in Val Caron. The couple says business has been booming since they opened in April.

Mike Marsh has gone from working in a mine to working in a pit.

That would be the above-ground version stocked with pitas and a virtually limitless array of fixings.

"There are millions of options," says Marsh, while showing off his new Pita Pit franchise in Val Caron.

"You can have a chicken pita done completely different for months on end," adds wife Julie.

The two opened the valley location of the Kingston-based restaurant chain in April, and business has been steady since. "It's booming, non-stop action," says Mike.

The Val Caron resident spent 17 years working underground as a heavy equipment mechanic, and wanted to try something different.

"We would take trips into the Pita Pit in downtown Sudbury, because we like the product and it's not just junk food," he says. "It's more freshness and healthy eating."
