KINGSTON, Ont. — The Pita Pit team is celebrating a
milestone this weekend as multi-unit franchisees Alan and Rana Matukaitis (pictured)
open the doors to the chain’s 500th location in Niagara Falls, Ont.
Founded in 1995 in Kingston, Ont., the QSR chain has
expanded to 11 countries, including the U.S., New Zealand, India, South Korea
and more. “We’ve come a long way since our first opening in Ontario almost 20
years ago. We’ve experienced outstanding growth in the past few years, and I am
extremely excited about the opening of our 500th store worldwide,” said Nelson
Lang, founder of Pita Pit. “Thanks to the passion and dedication of our customers,
franchisees, corporate team and staff, we have been able to reach this
remarkable milestone, and we look forward to further building on our success on
a global scale in 2014 and beyond.”
Last year, 34 new Pita Pit locations were opened, and this year execs hope to add 40 more, with the goal of having 400 locations across Canada by 2018. The company has also launched an upgrade program to improve the look and functionality of existing restaurants.
